Preview: Galaxy S6 phones are Samsung's best yet

A better design, sharper camera and easier to use software make the new Galaxy S6 phones the best Samsung has yet to offer. 
Although
 Samsung has been praised for its improved hardware, much of what I like
 is in the software - specifically, what's not in it. After a few years 
of making phones difficult to use with a slew of questionable features, 
Samsung continues to streamline its phones with the S6. 
Advance 
orders begin Friday, with delivery expected April 10. Prices vary by 
carrier, though they typically start at $600 to $685 for the main S6 
phone with 32 gigabytes of storage. A premium model, the Galaxy S6 Edge,
 costs about $100 more and offers curved screens to glance at content 
from the side. 
Here are 5 things to know about the phones. 
HANDLING 
Gone
 is the cheap-looking plastic back. The design is more stylish, with 
metal sides and a glass back, similar to older iPhones. Although I like 
the look, the glass makes the phone feel slippery, like a shiny marble 
countertop. Get a case; the regular S6 phone slipped out of my hands a 
few times. Apple's iPhones now have metal backs and feel sturdier to 
grip. That said, the Edge version doesn't feel as slippery, perhaps 
because I'm gripping the back part tighter given that the screen curves 
halfway down the sides. 
With the new design, the S6 loses 
waterproof protection and the ability to replace the battery and add 
storage. Losses, but not big ones. 
TAKING PICTURES 
I'm
 impressed with the images I've taken so far. Many of the shots had 
great focus, matching the performance of the iPhone 6. Colors on a green
 store sign weren't as strong as those shot with Samsung's Galaxy Note 4
 - and that's good. While stunning, colors on Note 4 images sometimes 
look unnatural. I haven't noticed that so far on the S6. 
One nice 
touch: Quickly double tap the home button to launch the camera, even 
when the screen is off. Though most phones let you launch the camera 
from the lock screen, I still lose shots in the time it takes to slide 
or tap the right icon. 
WATCHING VIDEO 
I liked the 
rich colors produced by Samsung's Amoled screen technology as I watched 
"Mad Men" on Netflix. But I found the controls very sensitive. Video 
stopped several times as I inadvertently hit the back button, which is 
built into the phone's frame. In addition, video often paused when I 
mistakenly touched the edge of the screen, launching the notification 
bar. You must handle the phone with care. 
FINDING WHAT YOU NEED 
Samsung's software improvements are subtle yet welcome. 
The
 most noticeable change is replacing many icons with text. For instance,
 there's a tool for searching through your settings. Previous Samsung 
phones depicted that as a magnifying glass icon. On S6 phones, it simply
 says "SEARCH." Same goes for controls such as "EDIT" and "MORE." This 
applies only to Samsung features and apps, though. You'll still get 
mysterious icons with third-party apps. 
You also get the latest 
version of Android, Lollipop. Benefits include bringing notifications to
 the lock screen, similar to iPhones. That saves a lot of taps getting 
to the message you want. You can restrict what appears there if you're 
sensitive to prying eyes. 
PUSHING THE EDGE 
The Edge 
model's side displays enable some nifty features, such as having the 
sides flash a different color based on who's calling. But the Edge comes
 across as something still looking for more practical uses. 
The 
regular S6 model will be fine for most people. Both models come with a 
fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone and, when Samsung Pay 
launches this summer, making payments with a tap of the phone at retail 
stores. Both let you open multiple apps side by side - something common 
in traditional computers but generally lacking in phones and tablets. 
Both also have fast-charging capabilities; I got to 47 percent in just 
30 minutes on the regular S6.

The phones remain at 5.1 inches 
diagonally, just a tad larger than the iPhone 6, which got a size boost 
over the previous year's models. 
The new S6 phones show that 
Samsung's more than a big screen. I look forward to seeing how Apple 
responds with new models this fall.</div>

The
 Galaxy S6 replaces the polycarbonate and faux pas leather form factor 
of its predecessor with a full metal-chassis. The S6 is thinner and 
smaller as against the S5. Parts of it will remind you of the iPhone 6. 
The new S6 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protective covering on 
both sides this time. The home button on the new S6 comes with a new 
fingerprint sensor reminiscent to the one we have in the iPhone 6. 
 
 
All those Pixels... 
The
 Galaxy S6 boasts of a Quad-HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen 
display with a 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution that roughly translates to 
577 ppi. This is a significant improvement over the 5.1-inch 1080p 
display of the S5. 
 
So long, Snapdragon 810 
 
Samsung has ditched Qualcomm's latest 
Snapdragon 810 chipset and instead crammed up its own Exynos 7420 CPU in
 the S6. The in-house octa-core Exynos 7 processor in the S6 is clocked 
at 2.1GHz and comes with 64-bit capabilities. It is coupled with 
Mali-T760 GPU along with 3GB of DDR4 RAM.

The 16MP rear camera on-board the Galaxy S6 
optical image stabilization and auto HDR for better low light 
photography. It comes with a 5MP front camera. 
 
 
 TouchWiz on a diet 
 
The new Galaxy S6 runs Android 5.0.2 
Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company's new and improved TouchWiz UI 
on top. The company has tried to cut down on some flab off the TouchWiz 
on this one. Preloaded Samsung apps have been brought down to two: S 
Voice and S Health. 
 
 
 
 Fast charging, Wireless charging 
 
The new S6 is backed by a
 non-removable Li-Ion 2550 mAh battery and supports wireless charging. 
According to Samsung, the S6 can achieve a full charge in half the time 
of the iPhone 6. The company claims mere 10 minutes of charge delivers 
enough power to keep the S6 running for four hours on moderate 
usage.

Design  
 
Design
 has been HTC's strongest suit in the last few years. Universally, its 
M7 and M9 have proven to be the prettiest Android phones around. 
Samsung's offerings, unfortunately, haven't been loved on the flipside. 
This year, things could change as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge bring
 impressive industrial design stories to the table. Both phones have a 
sturdy metal frame backed up with Gorilla Glass on both sides. And they 
look impressive. 
HTC decided to stick with its tried and tested 
metal design, which it heralded in the M7 back in 2013 and refined it in
 the M8 in 2014. The M9 looks very similar to the M8, and that is not a 
bad thing. It looks handsome, no doubt, but it no longer is a no-brainer
 if you are a stickler for aesthetics. Samsung's offering is equally 
compelling and it will be a subjective choice at the end of the day. 
Samsung
 also does some things better than HTC's flagship. Its S6 and S6 Edge 
are significantly slimmer at 6.8mm and 7mm respectively. The M9, by 
modern standards, is rather chubby at 9.6mm. It is also heavier than the
 two Galaxy S6 models at 157 grams. The Galaxy S6 weighs 138 grams while
 the Galaxy S6 edge is lighter at 132 grams. 
If you'd be 
critical, then as the M9 looks similar to its predecessor, it can be 
argued it brings nothing new to the table in terms of design. It perhaps
 lacks an X-factor, which Samsung nails with the curved screen on the 
Galaxy S6 edge. 
Display  
 
While Samsung's phones have
 always possessed beautiful eye catching Super AMOLED screens, they 
often don't have colours that appear true to life. HTC's screens often 
do well in this regard with the use of LCD technology. The M9 continues 
to use a 5-inch 1080p LCD screen, which should be good going by history.
 However, on paper, it is no match for Samsung's Super AMOLED quad-HD 
panel on the Galaxy S6. The M9 is super sharp at 441 pixels per inch, 
but the Galaxy S6 has an almost absurd 577 ppi density. The Galaxy S6 
Edge even adds curves on the sides of the screen, which makes it the 
more innovative one of the lot. HTC's LCD screen will probably fare 
better under direct sunlight, but Samsung's screen will likely have 
deeper blacks and will be more battery efficient. 
Camera  
 
For
 the last few years, HTC has attempted to innovate on the camera front. 
However, it has failed to provide its users with a dependable camera. 
Compared to phones from Sony, Samsung and Apple, HTC's One line of 
phones have had inferior cameras. Its UltraPixel technology has also 
copped a lot of flak and this has resulted in HTC adopting a traditional
 20.7-megapixel camera on the back. This is a good move of course, but 
the 16-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S6 according to Samsung is better 
than even the iPhone 6 Plus. Even in our hands-on we found that the 
camera on the Galaxy S6 was very impressive. So, beating the Galaxy S6 
camera will be a hard act. 
The rear camera also misses out on 
optical image stabilisation something which the Galaxy S6 has, so it is 
likely its low-light performance will be inferior. 
On the front, 
however, things could be very tight between the Galaxy S6 and the One 
(M9). HTC has not completely abandoned its UltraPixel technology as now 
it makes an appearance on the front. UltraPixel technology basically 
allows the camera sensor to absorb more light as the pixel size is 
significantly larger. This improves performance in low-light but it 
sacrifices resolution, which results in softness and less detail. This 
results in inferior image quality for a rear camera, but as people 
mostly take selfies from the front camera, it can turn out to be a boon.
 HTC has also thrown in a flash for the front camera.  Samsung has also 
added a 5-megapixel camera on the front, which has a wide f/1.9 
aperture, however, it missed out on a flash. 
Overall, things should be close when it comes down to the front camera. 
Performance  
 
The
 HTC One (M9) is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 
processor, which also has support for 64-bit apps. This is probably 
going to be the processor that is used in most Android flagships in the 
first half of the year. Already, LG has announced the G-Flex 2, which 
uses the same chip. It is a fast chip and performance should be very 
very good. 
However, if Samsung is believed then the Galaxy S6 
could one-up the One (M9). Unlike most manufacturers, Samsung even makes
 its own Exynos line of processors. In previous years, its Exynos 
variants were reserved for markets like India where there was no 4G 
connectivity. It used Qualcomm's silicon for developed markets like the 
US as its own processors lacked 4G support. With the new Exynos 7420, 
that limitation no longer exists. 
Moreover, in terms of pure 
performance too, Samsung believes it has a better SoC as it is based on a
 14nm process, which is an industry first. It claims that the Exynos 
7420 octa-core processor is 35 per cent faster than the Qualcomm 
Snapdragon 805, which used in the Galaxy Note 4 and is more frugal. 
This
 could be the case as Qualcomm's chips normally have an advantage over 
rivals like Samsung and MediaTek because of their custom Krait cores. 
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 uses standard ARM Cortex A53 and A57 cores, 
just like the Exynos 7420, but is manufactured on an inferior 20nm 
process.  While both phones have 3GB RAM, the Galaxy S6 also uses faster
 DDR4 RAM. 
In recent weeks, leaked benchmarks of the Galaxy S6 
have also revealed that the phone benchmarks higher than any Android 
smartphone we have seen to-date. 
Software  
 
Both the 
phones run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung has vastly improved its much
 maligned TouchWiz UI by adopting a less intrusive UI and Google's 
material design principles. It also is the one that is heavier on 
feature with cool multitasking functions like multi-window. That said, 
we expect the HTC One (M9) to provide the better UI as it has the 
cleaner and prettier Sense UI. HTC also allows the user to theme the 
interface, a feature the Galaxy S6 lacks. 
One area, where the Galaxy S6 could have an edge is in terms of professional use as it incorporates the Knox security package. 
Battery  
 
The
 HTC One (M9) has the bigger 2,880mAh battery. The Galaxy S6 has a 
smaller 2,550mAh battery, while the 'edge' model has a 2,600mAh battery.
 However, things are little more complicated. As the Galaxy S6 uses the 
more frugal display technology, things could even out. That said, things
 could also get reversed as Samsung's phones have incredible quad-HD 
screens as opposed to a  standard 1080p resolution on the M9. 
Samsung's
 phones also have more tricks. The South Korean company claims that its 
phone can offer 4 hours of battery life with just 10 minutes of 
charging, and goes on to say that its batteries are the fastest charging
 modules currently on a phone. HTC does not make any such claims, 
however, it leverages Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology, which too 
ensures faster charging. 
Memory

Samsung's new 
Galaxy smartphones uncharacteristically eschew a microSD card slot. To 
make up for that, Samsung offers generous SKUs which start at 32GB and 
go up to 128GB. HTC's One (M9) is only offered in one model. A 32GB 
model, but it also has a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB of 
expansion. 
Miscellaneous  
 
In typical Samsung 
fashion, the Galaxy S6 comes with a bag full of tricks. It has an iPhone
 like fingerprint scanner, and also has a heart rate monitor on the 
back. These are certainly nice additions. HTC's One M9 provides neither,
 however, it does come with new BoomSound speakers, which in the past 
have proven to be the best speakers on a smartphone. They also use 
Dolby's audio technology, which is always a good thing. Considering the 
single speaker and slim design of the S6, it is likely that the One (M9)
 will have an edge in terms of audio and loudspeaker quality. 
Wrap Up 
 
The
 Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge seem like a drastic overhaul of Samsung's 
flagship smartphone, while the HTC One (M9) feels more like an 
evolutionary step. Both offer a lot in their own right, but purely based
 on the specs, the Galaxy S6 could have a slight edge in core 
functionality and certainly packs an X-factor with its 'edge' model that
 adds the innovative curved display. The One (M9) is expected earlier in
 March, while the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be launched in April. </div>

In the late 2014 when Samsung released its next Galaxy Note phablet, 
just like it had done in 2013 and 2012, the Korean company deviated 
somewhat from the past. It announced not one version of the device but 
two. The normal version was, well, the normal one. Called the Galaxy 
Note 4, it was an iterative update of the Galaxy Note 3. But the second 
version was unique. It was so unique that there were rumours it might 
not even see wide availability in the market. 
Called Galaxy Note 
Edge, this was Samsung's first phone or phablet with a curved screen. In
 fact, unlike the LG Flex 2, which can be called the first smartphone 
with a curved screen even though in terms of functionality it is no 
different from a regular phone, the Edge was "curved" in the real sense. 
The
 Edge is available in India. We have already review the Galaxy Note 4, 
which is the normal version of Samsung's best phablet. It is one cool 
phablet. The Edge is more or less similar. Yet, there is something 
special about it. 
Before you read further, let's quickly make one 
thing clear: The Galaxy Note 4 is a better value for money if you are 
looking to buy the best phablet in the market. The Edge is expensive. It
 is a niche product. But it is a piece of future that you can carry in 
your pocket right now. It doesn't make sense from the value-for-money 
angle. But it is something you will want if you are really after a 
unique phone. 
As to know why and how it is unique and if that at all affects the functionality of the device, read on... Design and build quality

The
 Galaxy Note Edge looks almost similar to the Note 4. And it has the 
same build quality. Unlike the previous Note devices, the new one comes 
with a metal frame around it, which makes it feel sturdier and gives it 
somewhat more premium looks. 
Though in the grand scheme of things 
that is not saying much because compared to devices like the Apple 
iPhone 6 Plus, the Note Edge doesn't look all that polished. The back 
cover of the device is made of plastic that has faux leather look. The 
back cover has matte finish and hence feels better than glossy plastic 
when you hold the phone but compared to some other devices in this price
 range, it is to safe that there is nothing special about the design of 
the Edge. 
The build quality is, however, impeccable. The device 
feels sturdy in hands. The buttons are firm and fit snugly in their 
sockets and the finishing is top class. 
Where the Edge differs 
from the Note 4 and other phones is on its right side. There are no 
buttons on the right edge. Instead, this is where the screen subtly 
curves to meet the back cover. In terms of design, this doesn't make any
 difference. The feel of the device in hand is similar to what you get 
with the Note 4 or any other well-designed large screen phone. 
 
Screen

 Galaxy Note devices have always come with extraordinarily good screens.
 The Galaxy Note Edge is the same. The screen is also one area where the
 Note Edge is a lot different from the Galaxy Note 4. First of all there
 is difference in numbers. The Note 4 has a 5.7-inch screen while the 
Edge has a 5.6-inch screen. The Edge also has a higher resolution 
screen. It sports a resolution of 1600 X 2560 pixels. The extra pixel 
width is because of the extra width added by the curved screen. 
Theoretically,
 the Note Edge has two screens. One is the normal flat screen and that 
has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The other is the curved part of 
the screen, which is treated as the second screen. It has a resolution 
of 160 x 2560 pixels. 
The phone uses a SuperAMOLED screen. In 
terms of colours, contrast and brightness this is a flawless display. 
The colours are slightly oversaturated -- expected from the AMOLED panel
 -- but due to their richness they make the content pop. That is a good 
thing for users. Software

The
 software part of the Note Edge is a bitter-sweet story. The phone uses 
Google Android 4.4 aka KitKat, which is customised by Samsung with its 
own TouchWiz users interface. 
Either you will hate Touchwiz or you
 will be contend enough to live with it. But you won't love it, even 
though it packs in some useful tweaks and apps. The problem with 
Touchwiz is that even though it is very functional, it no longer looks 
good. This is especially true when you compare it to the stock Android 
Lollipop or iOS 8. Even the customised Android used by other 
manufacturers, like HTC or Sony, looks much better than what Samsung is 
putting out in its phones nowadays. 
The other problem with 
TouchWiz is that it just doesn't feel all that smooth. There are 
occasions when lags are visibly. And this has nothing to do with the 
hardware of the phone. Whatever performance issues are -- such as 
scrolling through photo gallery -- they are because something is amiss 
in the software. 
That said, there are lots of good things in 
TouchWiz. For example, the health app, which uses the multi-functional 
sensor placed under the rear camera module, is a joy to use. The sensor 
is also mostly accurate when it comes to checking heart rate and the 
health app works with the accelerometer in the phone in such way that it
 tracks the physical activity of a user as well as a dedicated fitness 
band. 
Then there are features that are specific to Note series. 
The Edge comes with a stylus. This stylus uses a lot of special apps 
like S Pen to offer functionality that is not available in any other 
phablet.

 about the curved part of the screen? As we noted earlier, this part of 
the screen is treated separately most of the time. The Note Edge comes 
with new Settings option from where you can control the curved screen. 
This part of the screen can be used to keep essential app icons, see 
notifications including weather info, display special text (it could be 
your name, for example) and access quick settings like torch. 
The 
curved screen can also be used by apps creatively. At the moment, not 
many such apps utilise the feature. But one example is Samsung's camera 
app. This app uses the main screen as the viewfinder while the shutter 
release button (camera button) has been moved to the curved part. 
Overall,
 we found the curved screen to be a novelty feature. Yes, it adds a 
little bit of functionality but that functionality in itself doesn't 
actually enhances the Smartphone experience in a significant way. But we
 must say these are early days for such screens. As more and more 
smartphones start including them, app developers and software developers
 will start to find unique uses for them. That ways, the Note Edge, with
 its curved screen feels like a device that has something extra in it. 
This something extra may not be vital to the overall experience, but it 
sure adds to the appeal of the device. 
Performance

Overall,
 performance of the Edge is very good. Though that is not a surprise 
considering the hardware it packs inside its body. The phone is powered 
by Qualcomm Snapdragon  805 processor running at 2.7GHz. It also has 3GB
 RAM and 32GB internal storage. 
Additional, there are sensors. For
 example, the sensor under the rear camera can measure heart rate as 
well as stress level and oxygen level. The last two seem gimmicks. The 
phone also has a fingerprint scanner that can be used to lock and unlock
 the phone. But it doesn't work as well as the fingerprint sensor in the
 iPhone 6. 
General performance of the phone is good. As noted 
earlier, except some occasional lag in scrolling through photo gallery 
or contacts, everything is fast fastfast on this phone. High-end games 
run well and the phone doesn't heat as much as other high-end devices 
like the iPhone 6. GPS works well. the speaker, which has a vent on the 
back cover, is loud enough. It is not in the class of HTC's Boomsound 
but it is quite loud. 
The audio quality during calls is 
impeccable. Also, the network performance is fantastic and we rarely saw
 weak signals or poor internet speed on the phone. 
Camera 
 
The
 Edge comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 3.7-megapixel front 
camera. The camera performance is one of the strong points of the Edge. 
In fact, it is as good as the camera performance of the Note 4, which 
means it is among the best we have seen in a smartphone. To know more

Battery

The
 Note series devices have always offered good battery. The Note Edge 
doesn't match the kind of battery life that devices like the Note 3 and 
Note 2 offered but despite its powerful hardware and a high-resolution 
screen, it lasts around a day. We used the device with 2 email accounts,
 2 social media accounts, over an hour of browsing, some YouTube 
streaming, around half an hour of gaming, over an hour of calls and 
little photography and the device consistently lasted between 14 to 15 
hours. This is with fairly heavy use. If you are not online 24 X 7, you 
will be able to get battery life of around 18 to 20 hours from the Edge.

 we noted in the beginning, the Galaxy Note Edge is not a value for 
money device. If you just want a cool phablet, you can go for the Galaxy
 Note 4. The only extra bit that the Edge offers is novelty factor that 
its curved screen adds. This is something unique to it. And even though 
it may not a particularly useful add-on, seeing your name scroll by the 
side of the phone in a stylish font is something that no other phone 
offers yet. 
As a device, the Edge is a really good phablet. But whether its novelty features are worth Rs.64,990 or not is something that only you can decide.</div>

Hi, today i am going to explain how to root your phone in safest way with no loss of data. 
 
* Download the files from the attachments and extract them (for CWM visit : <a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160671" target="_blank">http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2160671</a> ) 
* Switch off your phone and boot into download mode (vol down + home + power) and press vol up to proceed 
* Open odin in pc and and click on PDA 
* Locate the you extracted from the CWM touch zip and click open 
* Make sure only 'Auto reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' is checked 
* Click start once complete odin should say 'PASS' and your phone will reboot 
* Copy the Supersu zip file into your external <a class="vglnk" href="http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/productID.298567900" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">sd card</a>. 
* Now switch off your phone and boot into recovery mode (vol up + home + power) 
* Now select install zip from sd card -> Choose zip from sd card 
* Now locate the supersu zip file and click install 
* Now CWM will install the zip 
* Samsung devices come with a special flash counter that tracks the no. of times you flash custom roms and zips. 
* If you wish to reset the flash counter back to original Download
