Now that the cat's out of the bag, and we have both the low budget 
yet freakishly functional devices: the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Moto E 
(Gen 2) in India, we decided to pitch in and bring you the differences 
between the two: help you decide which one's good for you. <br />
Both 
the Moto E (Gen 1) as well as the Xiaomi Redmi 1S were hot critic 
favorites upon launch setting benchmarks for how budget devices ought to
 be: value for money. And, looking at the spec sheets of both their 
successors, one thing is certain: Motorola and Xiaomi have not 
disappointed us, at least on paper.<br />
Here's a quick look at the differences between the Redmi 2 and the Moto E (Gen 2):<br />

Both
 the original Redmi 1S and the Moto E (Gen 1) were fairly decent looking
 devices, however, of the two Xiaomi's offering somehow appeared better 
looking in contrast. One thing that brought the Redmi 1S down was its 
weight: simply put it was 'fat' and chunky.<br />
It's nice to see 
Xiaomi has worked on that aspect and significantly toned down the Redmi 
2, which is way lighter than the original, even lighter than the Moto E 
(Gen 2).<br />
In terms of looks, the Redmi 2 follows close on the heels
 of its predecessor, which is not bad since the original was fairly 
decent looking. That said we would have liked some changes here and 
there so it looked somewhat new. The Moto E (Gen 2) also doesn't budge a
 lot from the design of the original Moto E, save some changes here and 
there. It now comes with a single chrome speaker grill, replacing the 
dual grills found in last year's model. Also, the back panel in the Moto
 E (Gen 2) is now non-removable.<br />
Design taste is of course 
subjective, however, we feel the Mot E (Gen 2) with its personalized 
colored bands looks a little more youthful and funky in comparison to 
the Redmi 2. However, the Redmi 2 gives you the option of a removable 
back cover with a removable battery, which most buyers would like.<br />

This
 is one area where the Xiaomi Redmi 2 should win hands down. It features
 a 4.7-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a 720x1280 
pixels resolution that roughly translates to 312 ppi. It's true that 
Xiaomi has retained the display specifications of the original Redmi 1S 
in the Redmi 2, however, we were pretty pleased with the brightness and 
viewing angles of the original for its price, and the Redmi 2 should not
 be any less.<br />
The Moto E (Gen 2) on the other hand comes with a 
bigger display than the original Moto E, however, it retains its 
resolution and pixel density, which means the display shall hurt a bit 
more on the Moto E (Gen 2), considering that the original was no display
 marvel. <br />

The
 Redmi 2 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm MSM8916 
Snapdragon 410 CPU with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM, a significant 
upgrade over the Redmi 1S. There is a second limited edition variant 
that will ship with 2GB RAM, same CPU though at a later date 
(undisclosed).<br />
The Moto E (Gen 2) 3G that is available for now is 
powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 CPU with Adreno 
302 GPU and 1GB RAM, which is same as found in last year's model. Now, 
the 4G variant of the Moto E (Gen 2) will ship with a 1.2GHz quad-core 
64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with the same 1GB RAM. It is 
expected to be available sometime in May, 2015.<br />
Of course, the Moto E (Gen 2) 4G makes more sense when comparing with the Redmi 2 and it's not available for now.<br />

Software</h2>
This
 is one area that shall depend upon the discretion of the user. While 
the Moto E (Gen 2) runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out-of-the-box, the Redmi
 2 runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6 on top.<br />
All Motorola 
devices give you stock Android experience, it's as real as it gets. The 
new Moto E comes with the very latest Android iteration. <br />
Some 
parts of Xiaomi's MIUI 6 have undoubtedly been borrowed straight out of 
Apple's textbook, however, at the price Xiaomi sells its devices it's a 
great deal to have the functionality of Android along with the look and 
feel of some iOS thrown in. That said Lollipop still has an edge and is 
definitely a better looking one too.<br />

Let's
 be honest, Motorola devices don't have the best of cameras around. 
Xiaomi on the other hand is known to pack in decent snappers in all its 
devices. In our review of the original Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note, we 
found the cameras on board fairly decent for their price range. Sadly, 
the same cannot be said about Motorola devices, the Moto E in 
particular.<br />
<br />
Even specs wise, the Moto E (Gen 2) fails to raise 
eyebrows, but is indeed an improvement over the original Moto E 
especially since it now comes with autofocus abilities, and also decks 
in a front VGA snapper. An LED flash is still missing though.<br />

 the original Moto E and the Redmi 1S were hailed for their good battery
 life, however, the Moto E was benchmark setting in this department. <br />
We
 believe the traditional shall continue with their latest renditions, 
although the Moto E (Gen 2) seems to have an upper hand yet again, at 
least on paper.<br />
It's good to see both Xiaomi and Motorola bumping 
up their batteries: the Moto E (Gen 2) now comes with a 2390mAh battery,
 while the Redmi 2 decks in a 2200mAh battery.<br />
That said the Moto E's battery is non-removable while users can remove/change the battery in case of the Redmi 2.<br />

Value</h2>
Both the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Moto E (Gen 2) 3G have been priced at <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>6,999
 and will be available for grabs exclusively via Flipkart. However, as 
is now synonymous with Xiaomi products in India, the Redmi 2 will be 
available via the much-loathed flash sale method. The Moto E (Gen 2) is 
now available to buy online, while the first flash sale of the Redmi 2 
will be held on 24 March, 2015.<br />
In terms of specifications set, 
the Xiaomi Redmi 2 clearly has an upper hand over the Moto E (Gen 2) 3G.
 The 4G LTE variant of the Moto E (Gen 2) seems more sense when you 
compare with the Redmi 2, however, there is still some time before it 
becomes available for sale.<br />
Our verdict: if you can go through the
 ordeal of the flash sale method, you should go for the Redmi 2. In case
 you want an easy buy, the Moto E (Gen 2) 3G should be every bit a 
capable device. The 4G variant will be price a little higher than the 3G
 one, however, we suggest you wait for it. In case you're in a hurry, 
you can go for either: the Moto E will give you stock Lollipop 
out-of-the-box as also a bigger battery (non-removable), the Redmi 2 
will of course give you more power and 4G at the same price. </div>

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 2 in January 2015, only now it has 
arrived in India. It's not all that surprising since companies like 
Xiaomi tend to manufacture devices as per demand, and not in bulk 
therefore all its devices tend to have different availability schedule 
depending on region.<br />
Now that it has arrived, the question is: is 
it a worthy upgrade? Without mincing any words here, let's just say, yes
 it is, at least on paper. Also the fact that Xiaomi has kept its price 
constant at <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>6,999 is a good 
thing and is likely to hurt rivals in this price range. More 
importantly, it's going head to head with the just launched Moto E (Gen 
2), an equally capable device.<br />

Keeping
 the original design aesthetics of the Redmi 1S intact, Xiaomi has 
worked a great deal at ensuring that the Redmi 2 is thinner and slimmer 
at the same time when compared with the original. While the Redmi 1S was
 more like a brick of a device, weighing a whopping 158 g for a 4.7-inch
 frame, the new Redmi 2 is now way slimmer at 133 g. <br />
Therefore, although the Redmi 2 still remains to be a 4.7-incher, it is visibly smaller and lighter than the Redmi 1S.<br />
While
 we would have liked some changes in the design aspect here and there, 
it's nice that Xiaomi has toned down the original which was way too 
chunky for our liking. Also, the Redmi 2 still comes with a removable 
back cover with a removable battery, which is nice considering more and 
more companies are now going for non-removable batteries.<br />

 Xiaomi Redmi 2 retains the original display configuration of the Redmi 
1S, meaning a 4.7-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a 
720x1280 pixels resolution that roughly translates to 312ppi. We were 
pretty satisfied with the Redmi 1S's display and viewing angles in our 
review. Therefore, the Redmi 2 is likely going to give you more or less 
the same experience in this department.<br />
That said the Redmi 2 now comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for added protection. The same was missing in the original. <br />

 expected to be available soon that will come with 2GB RAM, keeping the 
CPU and GPU constant. <br />

 is also one area that sees a significant improvement in the Redmi 2. 
The device runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with MIUI 6 on top. 
Now MIUI 6 is a significant design overhaul over MIUI 5. In our detailed
 comparison between the MIUI 6 and MIUI 5, we had clearly mentioned that
 the MIUI 5 is clearly one of the better looking UIs out there and every
 bit as functional. <br />
Of course it has some elements taken straight
 out of iOS 8, but overall, it's a pretty well put up UI that is also 
not a major resource hog. <br />

flash and bumps up the front camera to a 2MP in place of the 1.6MP found
 on the Redmi 1S. All Xiaomi devices come with good quality snappers, 
and we believe the cameras on board the Redmi 2 won't be a 
disappointment either.<br />

Battery</h2>
The
 Redmi 2 receives a bump in the battery department as well. It is now 
backed by a larger 2200 mAh battery, which is nice to see as Xiaomi has 
significantly slimmed the device yet managed to deck in a larger 
battery. The original Redmi 2 had good battery life, however, we will 
have to wait for the review before saying the same for the Redmi 2. That
 said, the company has bumped up the processor in the Redmi 2 keeping 
the display specs constant. Therefore, the bump in battery is likely to 
compensate for the bumped up processor, but that's not a confirmation. <br />

 Xiaomi Redmi 2 is not a drastic upgrade over the original Redmi 1S. The
 company has kept all the aspects that were well to do in the Redmi 1S 
intact while improving upon the stuff that was bringing the original 
down. They have toned down the size factor (keeping the display 
constant), bumped up the processor, updated it to the latest MIUI, and 
upped the battery in this one. All this while keeping the price same: <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>6,999.<br />
Also,
 the Redmi 2 is 4G LTE capable, and is certainly a much better option 
than the Lenovo A6000 which is priced the same and is another cheap 4G 
smartphone.<br />
Our verdict: The Redmi 2 is a good upgrade and improves upon the low pointers of the Redmi 1S, which is nice. </div>

 a rectangular face of about 1.5 inches (38 mm) in the smaller of two 
sizes, the watch wirelessly tethers to an iPhone, measures heart rate, 
and can tap wearers on the wrist to signal a new message or appointment.
 The price will start at $349.<br />

Apple has said the watch will 
launch in April and speculation is rife on what capabilities, from 
healthcare and fitness to navigation and entertainment, will be 
included. Apple fans have been waiting for a new type of product for 
five years, raising expectations.<br />

It is an open question whether 
Apple or anyone else can create a new market for watches. The first 
watches based on Google Inc's Android Wear software became available 
last year.<br />

Companies, including Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, LG 
Electronics Inc, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and Qualcomm Inc, 
collectively have not yet had a wearable hit. More companies are 
expected to test the waters this year, including possibly Xiaomi 
Technology Co Ltd, China's largest maker of smartphones.<br />

Meanwhile, traditional watch brands such as Swatch are beginning to make timepieces with features such as activity tracking.<br />
<br />
Roughly
 4.6 million smartwatches were shipped in 2014, according to research 
firm Strategy Analytics. Analysts estimate that Apple could sell 
anywhere from 10 million to 32 million Apple Watches in 2015. By 
comparison, Apple sold about 15 million iPads in 2010, after an April 
launch.<br />
Apple will have to "tweak" its stores to handle the watch, Cook told the Telegraph newspaper recently.<br />

Apple Watch to cost around Rs.22,000 or over Rs.10 lakh, depending on your choice

Apple on Monday announced that the Apple watch would be available in 
nine countries -- Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, 
Japan, the UK and the US - from April 24 at a starting price of $350. 
However, the Watch in 18-Karat gold will have a starting price of 
$10,000 (a little over <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>6 lakh). But if you are in mood to splurge you can get the priciest model, which will cost $17,000.<br />
For now there are no details available about the India availability or price.<br />

Apple
 said that the Watch will be available in three collections, Apple Watch
 Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition, crafted from custom rose 
or yellow 18-karat gold alloys.<br />
<br />
At an event in San Francisco, the company also detailed features of the Apple Watch. <br />
The
 company said that the Watch is an accurate timepiece, an intimate 
communication device and a ground-breaking fitness companion.<br />
<br />
"Apple
 Watch begins a new chapter in the way we relate to technology and we 
think our customers are going to love it," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO.<br />
<br />
"Conceived,
 designed and developed as a singular product, Apple Watch merges 
hardware and software like never before," said Jony Ive, Apple's senior 
vice president of Design. "In Apple Watch, we've created three 
beautifully curated collections with a software architecture that 
together enable unparalleled personalisation in a wearable device."<br />

Apple
 said that the Watch introduces technologies like the Digital Crown, an 
way to scroll, zoom and navigate without obstructing the display. The 
retina display with Force Touch on Apple Watch senses the difference 
between a tap and a press, providing a new way to quickly and easily 
access relevant controls. The all-new Taptic Engine discreetly delivers a
 gentle tap on your wrist whenever you receive a notification or 
message.<br />
<br />
Apple Watch will be available in two different sizes -- 
38 mm and 42 mm. Apple Watch Sport features a lightweight anodised 
aluminium case in silver and space grey with a retina display protected 
by strengthened Ion-X glass and matching high-performance 
fluoroelastomer Sport Band in five colours. The Apple Watch collection 
features highly polished stainless steel and space black stainless steel
 cases with a Retina display protected by sapphire crystal. The Apple 
Watch collection comes with a choice of three different leather straps, a
 stainless steel link bracelet and Milanese loop, and a black or white 
Sport Band.<br />

Apple Watch Edition features cases specially crafted 
from custom rose or yellow 18-carat gold alloys developed to be twice as
 hard as standard gold, a retina display protected by polished sapphire 
crystal and a choice of uniquely designed straps and bands with 18-carat
 gold clasps, buckles or pins.<br />
Apple also said that there are a 
number of apps already available for the Watch. "From requesting an 
Uber, checking in to your American Airlines flight, booking a bike for 
your Equinox class to remotely controlling your Honeywell Lyric 
thermostat while away, the possibilities for Apple Watch apps are 
endless," said the company.<br />

Apple CEO Tim Cook summed up the problem during a conversation with 
sales staff at a London Apple Store: "We've never sold anything as a 
company that people could try on before."<br />
With the expected launch
 next month of the Apple Watch, the company's first new product in five 
years, Apple will be stepping into new territory.<br />
<br />
To conquer the 
marketplace, the watch will have to appeal not only as a gadget but as a
 fashion statement, a fact tacitly acknowledged by Apple's decision to 
launch its advertising campaign with a 12-page insert in the March issue
 of Vogue.<br />
<br />
The company isn't talking about plans for marketing the
 Apple Watch in advance of it's much-touted "Spring Forward" event on 
Monday, but it clearly intends to keep a tight grip on initial sales and
 distribution, leaving many retailers guessing about when -- or if -- 
they'll be able to sell it.<br />
Sources with direct knowledge of the 
matter said that Best Buy Co Inc, one of the largest sellers of Apple 
products, may not get the watch at launch time, though the company 
wouldn't comment on the situation.<br />
<br />
Other large retailers, 
including Macy's, Saks 5th Avenue, Bloomingdales and Barney's said they 
had no immediate plans to carry the watch. Target and Nordstrom,along 
with all the major phone carriers, declined to comment on their plans, 
though a source with knowledge of the situation said Nordstrom has 
engaged in discussions with Apple.<br />
<br />
"Apple is being cautious. There
 are too many unknowns around how this product will perform," said Van 
Baker, research vice-president, technology research firm Gartner Inc.<br />
That
 might mean restricting initial sales to company stores, where Apple has
 complete control over the experience and staff can be specially trained
 to sell the watch, Baker said.<br />
<br />
Apple's Cook seems very aware of 
the challenge. The Telegraph, which sent a reporter with the CEO to the 
company's Covent Garden store, reported that he explained to the staff 
that selling the watch might require "tweaking the experience in the 
store."<br />
<br />
In the absence of hard information about what the tweaks 
might look like, speculation has been intense. The Washington Post last 
week suggested that Apple might add carpeting and mirrors and change 
store lighting to enhance the watch-buying experience.<br />
<br />
Media 
outlets and Websites have also posited that the watch will be offered at
 special pop-up stores installed at luxury retailers such as Selfridges 
in London and Colette in Paris.<br />
<br />
Apple hosted a private event at 
Colette last September, at which guests were able to try on the watch, 
but a spokesman for Colette declined to comment on whether the store 
would carry it.<br />
<br />
Until now, wearable gadgets have not been big 
sellers for technology companies. Rival products such as Samsung's Gear 
watches have sold poorly.<br />
<br />
Apple hopes to change that, but it is 
still a big if whether the watch will appeal to buyers seeking a fashion
 accessory, especially if it needs to be upgraded every few years like 
Apple's phones, tablets and computers.<br />
<br />
"It could do wonders for 
the watch market if it means people might wear watches again, but 
realistically, there are a lot of doubts," said Eric Wilson, fashion 
news director of InStyle.<br />
"Fashion customers are more skeptical than anyone, so Apple has picked a tough crowd."</div>

Cupertino tech giant Apple's Spring Forward Event in San Francisco 
was a very important event for the company, call it a stepping stone for
 the company's future if you may. Most of us were already aware of what 
was in store, however, there's always a certain amount of buzz around 
every formal launch event, more so when it's coming from Apple. So yes, 
the much awaited Apple Watch has finally arrived but the star of the 
show clearly was the all new 11-inch MacBook, Apple's thinnest ever 
primarily because it comes loaded with many 'a firsts' from Apple's

 Apple Watch has been perhaps the most anticipated pieces of gadgetry in
 the tech world for quite some time now. Back in September 2014, Apple 
CEO Tim Cook had introduced the device as a breakthrough product, not 
only for Apple but for the entire world of wearables, in general. Quite 
obviously then the frenzy around Apple's eventual advent into the smart 
wearable segment was huge and unsettling. Many would say Apple has been 
pretty late to the party. But looking at the sordid state of affairs of 
the current breed of wearables, we would like to think Apple was busy 
making something that could change the fate of the category altogether.<br />
<br />
The
 Apple Watch is a make or break product for the company being their 
first new product category since the iPad that made its debut ages ago 
in 2010. For a company that still owes much of its profit to the 
iPhones, the Apple Watch is indeed a huge bet and more.<br />
<br />
Available 
to pre-order on April 10 and on sale on April 24 in 9 countries, Apple's
 answer to Android Wear and Pebble Time for one has been designed to 
appeal to a whole range of preferences, according to Cook. It can be 
used to read, flag and mark emails; make and receive phone calls; 
receive and respond to notifications; access the likes of Instagram and 
even open hotel rooms and garage doors. And yes, it comes with the usual
 set of health and fitness applications.<br />
<br />
In addition, you can use 
the Apple Watch to make payments using Apple Pay (in U.S. only). For 
that touch is not necessary, simple proximity of the device will do the 
trick, says Apple.   <br />
<br />
You will have access to third-party apps as
 companies including Uber, Salesforce.com and American Airlines have 
collaborated with Apple for the same.<br />
<br />
It will work with the iPhone 5 and newer models, note that it is not compatible with iPads or iPods. <br />
According
 to the company, the Apple Watch's battery can last for 18 hours on 
normal usage and the device charges with a magnetic charger.<br />
<br />
<b>Pricing:</b><br />
<br />Basic Apple Watch Sport made of Aluminium alloy costs $349 (38mm) and $399 (42mm).<br />Mid-tier steel model with the 'widest varieties of bands' costs $549- $1049 (38mm) and $599-$1099 (42mm) depending on the band.<br />

2. <b>iOS 8.2</b> with Apple Watch support<br />

The new update brings in Apple Watch support as well

12-inch MacBook has an all-metal, unibody design and weighs just two 
pounds and measures mere 13.1 mm at its thickest point, making it 24% 
thinner than the previous generation 11-inch MacBook Air. According to 
the company, the notebook has no visible antenna plastic ports on the 
exterior. <br />
<br />
The new MacBook has a 12-inch Retina display with a 
2304Ã—1440pixels resolution that roughly translates to 3.3 million 
pixels in total. This is the thinnest display on a MacBook ever all the 
while using 30% less energy than the existing MacBook Retina displays, 
while delivering the same brightness level.<br />
<br />
It features a 
full-size much thinner keyboard based on Apple's butterfly mechanism 
that is 40% thinner than the traditional scissor-based ones used in 
standard keyboards. According to Apple, if you hit the edges of the 
keys, the whole key depresses without wobble offering higher precision.<br />
<br />
The
 new Apple trackpad features built-in force sensors and haptic feedback 
for an adjustable click feel. It comes with 'Force Click' sensitivity 
for more tap context like quickly previewing a file by a simple click 
followed by a deeper press. <br />
<br />
There are no moving parts or vents in this one so that the new MacBook becomes the first fanless Mac notebook ever.<br />
<br />
The
 MacBook is powered by the new fifth-generation Intel Core M 14nm 
process chip that runs at just 5 along with Intel HD Graphics 5300.<br />
<br />
New
 batteries on-board are designed as contoured sheets that let them fit 
35% more battery in the new MacBook. According to Apple: Wireless Web 
browsing: 9 hours, iTunes movie playback: 10 hours is what you'll be 
getting.<br />
<br />
There's only one port on the new MacBook: the USB-C 
standard that supports USB, VGA, Power, Display Port and HDMI. 
Connectivity options include 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.<br />The new MacBook starts at $1,299 and will be available in silver, space grey and gold. Shipping starts April 10.<br />

4. <b>Apple ResearchKit: </b>For medical research<br />

specifically for medical research that would aid researchers and medical

Currently, the kit includes apps for breast cancer, 
diabetes, Parkinson's disease, cardiovascular disease and asthma for 
which Apple has worked with various research centres like University of 
Rochester and Massachusetts General.<br />
<br />
Responding to privacy 
concerns, the company has reiterated that all data collected for the 
purpose would be private and that Apple wouldn't see it.<br />
Moreover, Apple is Open Sourcing Research Kit. <br />
<br />
5. <b>HBO Now coming exclusively to Apple TV</b><br />
<br />

Taking
 on social networking giant Facebook's ambitious 'free internet' plans, 
telecom major Bharti Airtel chief Sunil Mittal has said the companies 
should do 'philanthropy' if they stop charging for mobile internet.<br />
<br />
Facebook
 has launched an 'internet.org' initiative under which users can access 
internet free of charge for select websites if they come through a 
partner telecom operator, reported PTI.<br />
<br />
Incidentally, Airtel 
Africa is one such partner for Facebook, while rival Reliance 
Communications has partnered Facebook in India for this initiative, 
which is based on assumption that bringing more people to the internet 
fold by offering them free service initially is good for the industry.<br />
<br />
Mittal,
 who met Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg here at the Mobile 
World Congress, said that the social networking major is right in its 
thinking that such a would expand the market, but telecom operators also
 need to get their revenues and charge for the services.<br />
<br />
"I told 
him (Zuckerberg) that you are right that this (internet.org) expands the
 market. At the end, you must understand that we (telecom operators) 
need to charge you for something. SMSes have gone more or less, voice is
 going down and they (Facebook) recognise that," Mittal said in a media 
interaction here.<br />
<br />
"If you are going to make the data free, then 
let's do completely philanthropic projects. Government must make 
spectrum free, there should be free network, but it is not happening," 
the billionaire industrialist said, while adding that telecom companies 
were as such not making large money.<br />
<br />
The comments, incidentally, 
come at a time when a high-pitched auction is underway in India for 
spectrum and committed bids worth about <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>86,000 crore have come in within first four days of bidding -- crossing the minimum targetted amount of <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>82,000
 crore. The auction will resume tomorrow, as more unsold spectrum is 
left and there are expectations that the overall auction may cross <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>one lakh crore.<br />
<br />
Telecom
 companies say they invest billions of dollars in spectrum, network and 
other operations, but they argue that internet-based entities offering 
pseudo-telecom services are piggy-backing on the mobile operators' 
networks without bearing much investments on their own.<br />
<br />
At the 
same event here, UK-based telecom giant Vodafone's global CEO Vittorio 
Colao reportedly said about Facebook's free-of-cost internet plan that 
"it is almost like Zuckerberg does philanthropy, but with my money."<br />
<br />
Mittal
 cautioned that investments in mobile networks by industry will go down 
as Internet-based messaging and calling services are 'cannibalising' 
revenues of telecom firms.<br />
<br />
"He (Zuckerberg) is saying that make 
Internet.org lite version of Facebook free of data charge, so that 
people will upgrade. People will come to internet for the first time. 
The point is that it is self-serving for them," Mittal said.<br />
<br />
Telecom
 operators have been facing pressure on their financials from the 
emergence of a number of Over-The-Top (OTT) firms like Facebook (through
 its WhatsApp messaging service), Skype and Viber, which on their part 
claim to be helping telecom operators grow business.<br />

other but they, regulators and politicians must understand that 
networks' investment must be on reasonable terms. Gone are the days when
 telecom companies were making large amounts of money," Mittal said.<br />
"OTT
 players must understand pains of the mobile industry. Sometimes we are 
seeing as gatekeeper, bad guys. The fact of matter is spectrum - there

GSM Association is a group of mobile operators and related companies 
that is behind the mega MWC event. The event mainly focuses on mobile 
technology and this was the 20th year of the association. GSM Mobile 
Awards happened along with other traditional events at the MWC. The

Apple Inc has allowed some companies to test their apps on its 
yet-to-be-launched Apple Watch and adjust the tools to the watch's 
design, Bloomberg reported.<br />

Facebook Inc, United Continental 
Holdings Inc, BMW AG and others have spent weeks at Apple's 
headquarters, working with the smartwatch to test and fine-tune apps 
that will debut alongside the device, Bloomberg reported, citing people 
familiar with the process.<br />
<br />
The watch, which will let consumers 
check their email, pay for goods at retail stores and monitor personal 
health information, will be Apple's first major product launch since the
 iPad in 2010.<br />
The company has scheduled a special event in San 
Fransisco on March 9 where it is expected to showcase Apple Watch, which
 will be launched in April.<br />

Apple uses extreme measures to keep 
its work secret - Internet access is blocked inside the rooms and no 
outside materials can be brought in, Bloomberg reported, citing a person
 who attended the tests.<br />
Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller and 
Facebook spokeswoman Johanna Peace declined to comment. Reuters could 
not immediately reach United Continental and BMW for comment outside 
regular business hours.<br />

German carmaker BMW said on Thursday its 
talks with Apple did not involve developing or building a car, denying a
 German magazine report.</div>

Tech giant, Apple has reportedly delayed the production of
its larger-screen iPads dubbed as iPad Pro. The company is yet to decide about
the final design of the device. According to media reports, the tech giant has
pushed the production to the second half of this year.</div>

The device is said to
be coming up with two USB ports consisting USB 3.0, focusing mostly on business
customers.</div>

government is here on the smartphone market. Tech giant Apple has reportedly
decided to increase the maximum retail price of the entire iPhone range in
India. The move is related and attributed to the recent budget. </div>

According to media reports, all the iPhone ranges like
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models will become costlier by <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>2,500. With this
hike in the Apple smartphones the iPhone 6 will now start at <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>56,000 instead
of <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>53,500 for the 16GB variant, while the 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6 variants
will now be priced at <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>65,000 and <span class="rupee">R<span>s.</span></span>74,000 respectively.</div>

In the wake of a request from the government of India, video sharing 
site YouTube on Friday removed videos of BBC's documentary on the 
December 2012 rape case. <br />
Earlier, the government had asked BBC to
 not air the controversial documentary, however, BBC anyway went ahead 
and released the documentary in the UK and Wednesday, and later uploaded
 it on YouTube.<br />
<br />
The Indian Express is reporting that the 
government had asked YouTube to remove the videos of the documentary and
 it appears that the Google owned service has complied with the demands 
of the government.<br />
<br />
"While we believe that access to information 
is the foundation of a free society, and that services like YouTube help
 people express themselves and share different points of view, we 
continue to remove content that is illegal or violates our community 
guidelines, once notified," said a YouTube spokesperson.<br />
<br />
As per 
government rules, YouTube needs to be notified if it is hosting illegal 
content, so that it is able to take appropriate action. The YouTube link
 to the video currently carries a message saying that the video has been
 blocked due to a court order, which indicates some kind of 
intervention. <br />
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had placed an order 
restraining the broadcast of the documentary, which contained an 
interview of Mukesh Singh, who is an accused in the rape case. Reports 
have suggested, that Singh has reportedly claimed that Nirbhaya should 
not have resisted the rape, which resulted in the severe assault that 
she went through resulting in her eventual demise. This has caused an 
uproar in the country.  <br />
<br />
BBC, for its part, claims that it has no intentions of releasing or broadcasting the interview in India. </div>

Literally. The iPhones were starting to look tiny in front of flagship 
Android phones. But with the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, which have 
bigger screens, Apple is back in the game.<br />
On the software side, 
with the iOS 8, which is the latest version of the software that powers 
iPhones and iPads, Apple has tried to close the feature gap with 
Android.<br />
The unique Android features and a large screen were two 
main reasons why a lot of people were buying Android devices.<br />
<br />
So,
 should you give up your Android phablet? Or should you buy the iPhone 6
 or the iPhone 6 Plus because it has the large screen?<br />
We think 
no. There are still a lot of things that an Android phone does best. We 
tell you about some areas where good Android phones still beat iPhones.<br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Android phones have sharper screens</b></span></i></span><br />
<br />
While
 Apple has matched the screen size that flagship Android phones have, it
 hasn't yet topped or even matched the high resolution that we find on 
screens of Android phones. Flagship Android phones like Samsung Galaxy 
S5, LG Nexus 5 and HTC One (M8) all have screens with 1080P aka FullHD 
resolution. On phones like the Nexus 5, this means screens have a pixel 
density of 445PPI, making them extraordinarily sharp. In comparison, the
 iPhone 6 has a screen size of 4.6-inch and an odd resolution of 1334 x 
750 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 326PPI.<br />
iPhone 6 Plus
 is somewhat better with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density
 of 401PPI. But even this pales in comparison to LG G3, which has a 
5.5-inch screen but with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and pixel density 
of 534PPI.<br />
Now, it is true that there is more to a screen than 
just the resolution. But in high-end Android phones, we get screens that
 are really good. They have high resolution and ability to show punchy 
colours. For example, the screen in the HTC One M8 is a real treat to 
eyes. Then, there is the upcoming Note 4, which has been judged to have by DisplayMate, a firm that specialises in testing screens.<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Android Phones have more RAM</b></span></i></span><br />
<br />

It
 is year 2014 but the latest iPhones, which will be among the expensive 
smartphones in India once they launch here, still come with 1GB RAM. 
This is the same amount of RAM that Android One phones, launched a few 
days ago with a price of around <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>6,000, have. Even phones like Micromax Canvas Nitro that cost around <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>12,000 have 2GB RAM.<br />
But
 the argument is that amount of RAM doesn't matter in an iPhone. The iOS
 doesn't require a lot of RAM, unlike Android which is incredibly memory
 hungry. And this argument is somewhat correct.<br />
iOS is much better
 and efficient at utilising RAM. But that is until you are not pushing 
the phone. Once you open 12 tabs in the Chrome for iOS, it starts 
running out of memory. Have you seen an iPhone refresh an opened tab in a
 browser as soon as you start juggling between a few open apps or tabs? 
This happens because iPhones have just 1GB RAM. Irrespective of how 
efficient an OS is, there are instances, especially when a user is 
multitasking, when it needs more RAM.<br />
Multi-tab web browsing is better on high-end Android phones because they have at least 2GB RAM.<br />
<b><br /><span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Android phones are cheaper</span></i></span></b><br />
<br />
When the iPhones launch in the coming weeks in India, in all probability they are going to sport a price tag of more than <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>50,000. In comparison, you can pick the Nexus 5 or Galaxy S5 for less than <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>35,000
 and get a fantastic user experience which is in some way slightly 
better and in some ways slightly inferior to the iPhone experience. It 
is win some and lose some scenario. With the remaining <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>20,000,
 you can book a ticket to goa and have a 4-day holiday on a sea beach. 
Don't you think a Nexus 5 plus a 4-day holiday in Goa is a better deal 
than the iPhone 6?<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Choices, many choices</b></span></i></span><br />
<br />
With 
iPhones, you get everything in one package. It does many things very 
well, but what if you have special needs? Want a high-end phone that can
 last 20 hours a day? Get the LG G2 that sells for around <span class="rupee">Rs.</span>30,000.
 Want a phone that has really solid set of speakers? Get the HTC One 
(M8). Want a phone that has fantastic integration with a stylus? Get the
 Samsung Galaxy Note 3. (Or rather don't get the Note 3. Wait for the 
Note 4 that should be in India in the coming few weeks. It will be even 
more awesome).<br />
Want a phone that has a removable battery or 
supports microSD cards? Get an Android phone. Want a phone that can use 
Bluetooth or NFC for file transfer? Get an Android phone.<br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Android KitKat (and upcoming Android L) are awesome</b></span></i></span><br />
<br />
In
 many ways, iOS 8 is sort of a catch up release for Android. The 
software that powers iPhones had fallen so much behind in terms of 
functionality that Apple had no option but to open up the iOS and add 
more functionality to it. Hence, iOS 8 allows users to install 
third-party keyboards. Or has 'extensibility' that app developers can 
use to make their apps more functional. It even has widgets but they 
don't match the functionality of widgets found on Android phones.<br />
Yet,
 Android KitKat still does so many things in a better way. Some of these
 really affect user experience in a big way. These are:<br />
<b><span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">-- </span><span style="font-size: large;">Sharing feature:</span></i></span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></i></span> </b>On
 an Android phone, you can share content and data within apps with ease.
 That is why you can share a tweet from a Twitter app using WhatsApp 
easily. In iOS 8 Apple has provided a limited sharing functionality that
 app developers can use but so far it is not clear how well it will work
 and how many app developers are going to use it. Android is still 
better in this aspect.<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><b><span style="font-size: large;">-- (Almost) Open File System:</span></b></i></span><br />

<span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><b><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></b></i></span>Want 
to control how files are arranged on your phone, install an app like ES 
File Explorer on your Android phone and enjoy the ability to copy and 
paste any file almost anywhere. You can also create folders, arrange 
content the way you want and manually assign different apps to handle 
different kind of files.<br />
<b><span style="color: #351c75;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">-- </span><span style="font-size: large;">Drag and drop your content from your computer into phone:</span></i></span> </b><br />
<br />
<b> </b>On
 the iPhones, you can only drag and drop photos clicked with the iPhone 
camera. For everything else you have to deal with iTunes, which is a 
cumbersome way of doing things. On an Android phone, connect your device
 to a computer and you can drag and drop documents, photos, songs and 
music with ease. Plain and simple.  <br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><i><b><span style="font-size: large;">-- Google apps rock in Android:</span></b></i></span><br />

 If you use Google apps a lot, Android phones provide the best Google 
experience on mobile phones. This is especially true of the Nexus 5 that
 comes with the Google Now launcher, which puts a lot of relevant 
information just a swipe away. Even the Gmail, Google Maps and Photos 
experience is better on a flagship Android phone.<br />
<i><b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #0b5394;">-- Customise, customise, customise:</span> </span></b></i><br />

<i><b><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></b></i> You can't customise an iPhone. Well, you can change the wallpaper, but 
that is hardly a big deal. Android phones can be customized in tens of 
different ways.  Don't like the shape and colour of app icons? Change 
them. Don't like how notifications show up on the lockscreen? Change it 
using a third-party app? Want widgets? Get the fancy ones from the play 
store. Want fancy user interface animations, install a different 
launcher. You can use one theme on an Android phone for one week and 
then once you are bored of it, change it to something else.<br />
If you
 are a user who likes to tinker with the theme and software of his or 
her phone, you can't go wrong with Android. The iPhone, even the one 
running iOS 8, doesn't even come close.<br />

The
 iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are pretty good smartphones. The iPhone 
experience costs a lot of money but it is also pretty good experience. 
Camera in an iPhone is always fantastic. Performance is mostly nice. 
Apps are plenty and good looking. But the real beneficiaries of the 
iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are the existing iPhone users. Now they 
have a choice to get a big-screen phone running an OS they like.<br />
But
 if you already have a flagship Android phone and like it, there is not 
much new in the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus for you. Your Android 
phone is still great and Android OS is still a more dynamic, flexible 
and useful operating system.</div>

Motorola's new Moto E aka the Moto E (2nd generation) would launch in
 India in the coming days. The likely date is March 10. We will have 
more to say about the device once it is here in India. But while that 
will take some days, we checked out the device at the Mobile World 
Congress in Barcelona and we can give you a rough idea of what you can 
expect from the new Moto E.<br />
In terms of looks and design, the new 
Moto E is not all that different from the older model. But the build 
quality seems slightly better. The finishing is better and the plastic 
used to make the shell of the device has a better feel to it. The new 
Moto E is slightly bigger - but has the same 12.3mm thick body. The 
difference between the old and new Moto E is so marginal in terms of 
dimensions that it is not going to be apparent to the users. The new one
 fits in hands as effortlessly as the old one, largely because of the 
well-rounded shape and subtly curved back.<br />

 changes between the new and old Moto E are in the hardware. The new one
 comes with a bigger screen - 4.5-inch compared to the 4.3-inch - though
 resolution remains the same 540p. This gives the new Moto E slightly 
less dense pixel pitch if you go by numbers but in during actual use, it
 is not noticeable. In fact, the new Moto E has a better screen. It 
shows punchier colours and has better viewing angles. This is almost in 
class of the Moto G screen, although we feel the brightness is still 
less than optimal. But considering the price the new Moto E is going to 
carry, we feel that it will be a compromise we can make.<br />
The 
performance is another aspect where the difference is very much 
apparent. The new Moto E, at least for daily use, is going to be as fast
 as any other Android phones. During the brief time we spent with it, we
 didn't notice any lag, dropped frames, freezes, missed swipe etc on the
 new Moto E. Apps open quickly, the scrolling is smooth, and switching 
between tasks is effortless.<br />
Obviously much of this is because of 
the improved hardware in the phone. The Moto E that we tried was running
 Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 processor, though in India, the company is 
likely to launch the one with the Snapdragon 400 processor (3G version) 
to replace the old Moto E. But much of it is also because of the Android
 Lollipop.<br />

 is using an almost unmodified version of Android Lollipop aka pure 
Android on the Moto E. This means almost all Lollipop features, 
including app drawer with white background is available on the new Moto 
E. This is also a surprise because the old Moto G, which has hardware 
very similar to the new Moto E, did not get these Lollipop user 
interface features.<br />
There is much more to Moto E than design and 
performance. For example, we know nothing about its actual battery life,
 camera performance and network performance etc. We will explore these 
details in our review of the phone when the device is available in 
India. But for now we can say that the new Moto E looks like a worthy 
upgrade to the India's most popular budget phone of 2014. For more, stay

through CDs or any other means. Henceforth, without getting the rights 
from me none should use my songs. It's an infringement of my

 Madras High Court had yesterday made absolute the interim injunction 
granted by it against five audio recording companies from making and 
selling film music compositions of the music director violating his 
copyright. <br />
He also said it's illegal to share his songs on video-sharing sites such as YouTube and Daily Motion.<br />
"Those who want the rights to my songs may approach me or the producer's council," he added.<br />
Ilayaraja,
 71, had filed a petition seeking to restrain Agi Music private Limited,
 Echo Recording Company Private Limited, Unisys Info Solutions Private 
Limited, Agi Music sdn bhd, Malaysia and Giri Trading Company, Mumbai, 
from manufacturing and selling, distributing or in any manner infringing
 his exclusive right under the Copyright Act-1957. <br />
